deGrupo Bahiense para el estudio de la Aracnología "GBA" was founded in 2006. In a first field trip to Sierra de la Ventana (Buenos Aires, Argentina) in order to observe and phtograph specimens of a Theraphosidae, Grammostola vachoni (Schiapelli & Gerschman 1961), we begin to initiated in the arachnological study field.

Our research interests are systematics, ethology and ecology of arachnids, with emphasis on spiders.

But not only these lines have been addressed, but currently the group has been internalized in the following areas:

  • Historical biogeography and phylogeography of Mygalomorphae from Argentina.

  • Ethology (behavior and patterns of sexual selection) in mygalomorph spiders.

  • Ecology of spiders in agroecosystems of southwestern Buenos Aires province, Argentina.

  • Ecological aspects and natural history of spiders in natural habitats.
